About Osceola, AR - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Osceola, Arkansas is one of the two county seats of Mississippi County. It was established in 1837 under the name Plum Point, but the name was changed to its current one when the city incorporated in 1853. Osceola began as a busy port along the Mississippi River, but as the use of riverboats declined toward the end of the 19th century, local industry centered around the St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad instead. Devastating floods in 1927 and again 1937 destroyed much of the town, although a number of older buildings were spared. Today 10 of these are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including Osceola's 1912 Neo-Classical courthouse with its copper roofed dome and a 1904 building, once a dry goods store, that now houses the Mississippi County Historical Center and Museum. Osceola is known for the role it played in the development of blues music. Blues legend Son Seals was born here, and Albert King got his start playing in an Osceola group called the Groove Boys.

Osceola pays homage to its musical roots every May with the Osceola Heritage Music Festival, and the Annual Big Catch Catfish Festival is held in September in Sans Souci Landing Park. Osceola winters are usually mild, although summers can be hot and sticky down in the Delta.
