About Paragould, AR - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Paragould, situated atop Crowley's Ridge in northeastern Arkansas, is the county seat of Greene County. The city was named after two competing railroad magnates, James A. Paramore and Jay Gould, whose lines converged at the site where the community was established in the 1870s. By the 1890s Paragould had 14 lumber mills, and by the turn of the century was one of the area's leading centers for business. In 1930, the second-largest meteorite ever recovered in North America fell to the ground a few miles south of town. This 820 lb. chunk of rock, now known as the Paragould Meteorite, is on display at the Arkansas Center for Space and Planetary Sciences in Fayetteville. In 1936, 10,000-year-old mastodon bones were discovered buried in the sand on the banks of nearby Hurricane Creek.

Paragould is home to the Greene County Museum, housed in the restored 1908 home of former Arkansas governor J. Marion Futrell.  Other attractions include the 1888 Historic Greene County Courthouse building, which now houses the Chamber of Commerce, and the Paragould Country Club, with its 18-hole saddleback course, swimming pool and restaurant.  Every May downtown Paragould puts on the Loose Caboose music and arts festival featuring musical entertainment ranging from blues to bagpipes as well as carnival rides, a petting zoo and a barbeque dinner. Paragould summers are sticky and hot, but winters are usually on the mild side.
