About Portageville, MO - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Portageville, Missouri is a small city in the southeastern corner of the state, an area known as the Missouri Bootheel. Portageville, which spans both New Madrid and Penobscot counties, was originally swampland but was drained in the early 1900s and now has some of the area's most fertile soil. Local crops include corn, rice, beans, and cotton. One of Portageville's major employers is SRG Global Inc., a company that manufactures chrome-plated plastic parts for the automotive, trucking and household appliance industries. Portageville is also home to the 1,024 acre Fisher Delta Research Center of the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources. This site consists of four separate farms, and the research performed there focuses on crop production and management.

Weather in Portageville can be varied – summers are hot and humid, and winters usually cool and mild, but in January of 2009 Portageville was at the center of one of the worst winter storms in the state's history – three days of sleet, ice, and snow accumulating 8 inches. Favorite Portageville spots for tourists and locals include Mary Ada's, a family-style restaurant, and Gators Pizza, whose specialties include ravioli, lasagna, nachos and chicken wings as well as pizza. Another popular local eatery, Katie's Diner, unfortunately, burned to the ground in March of 2012.
