Nestled in the northwestern corner of Tennessee is a beautiful town known as Tiptonville. It is positioned in Lake County and serves as the county seat. Tiptonville is the largest city in Lake County. According to the United States Census Bureau, approximately 4,349 people lived in Tiptonville in 2016.

When the first County Court of Lake County was held in 1870, Tiptonville was designated as the county seat. Before Tiptonville was designated as the seat of government, the quaint town was inhabited by few individuals. It is said the first houses erected in the town were a store-house and dwelling. William Tipton constructed the aforementioned houses in 1857 and today Tiptonville is named in honor of him.

Tiptonville has developed as a beautiful town despite its humble beginnings. Today, the Town of Tiptonville is home to many franchise restaurant chains including Sonic Drive-In and Dairy Queen. Locally owned businesses are located in Tiptonville as well. Sherry’s Kuntry Kupboard and El Potrillo Mexican Restaurant are located along Carl Perkins Parkway. Surrounding Tiptonville is beautiful farmland. Located a short distance from the town are several parks such as the Reelfoot State Park and Gayoso Bend Conservation Area. It is worth noting Tiptonville is the hometown of famous singer and guitarist Carl Perkins. The town is home to the Carl Perkins Visitor Center which features memorabilia and information about the area.
